The Hyde is proud of its excellent eco-credentials, featuring a robust solar PV system that generates more electricity on sunny days than we consume.

Our cabin, built with a wood frame and clad in Larch, is designed to be well-insulated, keeping guests cozy in winter and cool in summer. We source our water from a deep well, ensuring it is pure and refreshing, with regular filtration and testing. This water is safe to drink and beneficial for your hair and skin.

To promote sustainability, we provide refillable water bottles for your trips to the beach or walks, helping you avoid single-use plastic bottles.

Rather than using air purifiers, we rely on our natural environment. The trees around us thrive with lichen, a sign of our excellent air quality. After a respite from city pollution, relax in our outdoor hammocks and enjoy the invigorating fresh air.

Recycling is a key focus for us and our community. We provide easy-to-use bins for waste disposal, including a separate bin for composting food scraps, which helps us grow organic salads for our summer guests. All the used Nespresso pods are collected and sent to a specialised recycling facility in the UK, where coffee grounds are transformed into soil improver and renewable energy, while the plastic and aluminium are reprocessed into new products.

We not only encourage recycling but cycling. Leave your car at The Hyde and enjoy a brief walk or bike ride to the beach for breakfast at a café or a cocktail while watching the sunset. Essential items can be picked up at the village shop, and with advance notice, we can arrange grocery deliveries to The Hyde. Every bit helps.

Our kitchen paper, toilet paper, and tissues are provided by 'Who Gives a Crap', a company that produces bamboo products with a lower environmental impact and donates 50% of its profits to support access to clean water and sanitation around the world.

Jo, our dedicated cleaner since we opened, employs an environmentally friendly cleaning system that avoids single-use plastics. Any household items or linens that still have utility are donated to charity.

The Hyde is painted only with natural paint made using the purest and healthiest plant-based ingredients combined with rich mineral & earth pigments. The water-based formulas are the most ecologically friendly available today; plastic free wall paints, carbon neutral and non-toxic. Together let’s paint a greener future!

Lastly, our guests experience Noble Isle bathroom products, which smell delightful and offer a luxurious feel. These vegan, cruelty-free products are free from parabens and provide remarkable benefits for both skin and body. Noble Isle further reduces its environmental footprint by recycling all packaging and leftover products, promoting wellness for individuals and the planet in a wonderful cycle of kindness.

Those of our guests who have stayed with us before are well aware of our exceptional standards. Covid rules aside, The Hyde is meticulously cleaned in between every booking by our amazing housekeeper, Jo. The bedlinen and towels are all professionally laundered. Clean pillows, duvets, rugs, and blankets are provided for every guest; we don’t just change the covers! 

If you are arriving by train or plane, or would prefer not to have the hassle of shopping for groceries, we can arrange a delivery from Waitrose or Tesco and will see everything is put away in the fridge and larder prior to your arrival. Please advise us well in advance, as delivery slots sell out fast in the busy season.

We have hosted many a Vegan guest.  We welcome Vegan guests with a seasonal treat from our garden: organic salad, strawberries or grapes, instead of the Cornish Cream tea.

Our bathroom products are Vegan, cruelty free and devoid of parabens.

Although we do not claim The Hyde’s kitchen is meat free, we can provide a set of pans and chopping boards we keep specifically for Vegans if we are advised in advance.

We have hosted many a happy honeymoon couple over the last four years. The Hyde not only offers total privacy to escape to and celebrate but, is a place in which to make memories to last a lifetime and to return to time and time again.

Aside from champagne on ice and local strawberries (in season) to welcome you, there is a whole lot more we can do to make your honeymoon special, including stocking the fridge and larder with groceries so you don’t have to.
