The Hyde is special. Every inch of the treehouse, from the shell to the interiors, is masterfully crafted by hand. Hidden away in dense woodland far from the world, it is a perfect retreat for a couple or solo traveller. It isn’t just a treehouse or a cabin, but an experience; an invitation to escape.
From the cosy Bohemian interiors to the luxurious appliances and linens (think Heston Blumental barbecue, Tielle Loves Luxury towels, and Bose sound system), there is plenty to love. Step outside after breakfast on the glass covered deck, spend the day swinging on the hammocks, listening to birdsong, or sunbathing on the wicker loungers in the private garden. Revel in the coastal walks across the nearby beach at Porthtowan until you reach the cliffs with St Ives in one direction and St Agnes in the other. Cycle around the villages across the UNESCO World Heritage Site on which our property is located. If you’re a surfer, or would be surfer, we own the renowned Tris Surf Shop in Porthtowan and can arrange private lessons and all the kit.
Overhanging the dense woodland, on a privately owned World Heritage Site, The Hyde is a charming treetop cabin that's perfect for couples or solo travellers. The luxury eco treehouse provides guests with a peaceful retreat amongst nature whilst offering plenty of style and comfort. ‘Luxury’ and ‘eco’ may sound like a contradiction, but we have proved it is not only possible but essential in an era when sustainability is key.
Just one mile from the dramatic North Cornish coast, a short walk through the stunning valley, guests can enjoy the beautiful Porthtowan beach with its golden sands and sparkling blue sea. An array of water sports, including private surf lessons, can be experienced on the local coastline. Basking in the sun might be just what the doctor ordered during the warm summer months. Keen walkers and cyclists are spoilt for choice, with a selection of trails just minutes from The Hyde. The cabin is perfectly situated to easily reach both the South and North coastline, offering the best of both worlds.
Sleeping two guests, the secluded cosy Bohemian cabin with its larch clad exteriors, eclectic furnishings and outdoor space is an exceptional place to stay. Whether it's whiling the days away in the hammocks with a good book, dining al fresco on the deck or barbecuing under the stars, there are plenty of reasons to really make the most of The Hyde.
FULL KITCHEN
The kitchen, decorated with Picccolpaso handmade tiles, has everything you need to make meals during your stay including Neff electric oven and gas hob, microwave, pots and pans, plates, mugs, glass and silverware, Smeg toaster, Nespresso coffee maker and milk frother, fridge with an ice box, large cupboard drawers for your supplies and a dishwasher for two!
The dining table awaits your arrival set with a welcoming Cornish Cream Tea.
LIVING ROOM
The open plan living room is perfectly warm in winter when you draw the interlined curtains and cool in summer when you throw open the doors to the deck. Furnished in an eclectic style, complete with a large, comfy sofa, it’s the perfect place to nestle in with a good book, wrap up in Hermès blankets to watch your favourite box sets on Netflix, Sky Sport on Now TV or listen to your playlist through the Bose speaker. There are plenty of books and boardgames if you need an alternative to television.
THE DECK
The glass covered deck provides the perfect outdoor space for a meal cooked on the Heston Blumenthal barbeque, your early morning coffee or a glass of wine with a game of backgammon.
BEDROOM
Just large enough for a comfortable king size bed made up with 'Tielle Love Luxury' sumptuous bedlinen (as you will find in the famous ‘Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons’) for that hotel feel, a Manuel Canovas upholstered bedhead, a choice of pillows, dual-control heated blanket for cold winter nights, small hanging cupboard and a chest of drawers. Wake up gently to bird song, open the French doors to experience the tranquillity. Should there be rain, “…A downpour on the tin roof relaxes the mind, blocks out distractions and helps you to sleep".
BATHROOM
The en-suite shower room is decorated with quirky tiles from the Papal Palace at Avignon (just for fun), and has a large walk-in rainfall shower, constant hot water, masses of fluffy towels and robes, heated towel rail, hairdryer and lots of NOBLE ISLE bath products for a treat. Don’t always expect high pressure as the water comes from a deep well, but you will have all the benefits of pure water, free from chemicals, leaving your hair and skin feeling as if you have been to the spa. Alternatively, pick up your robe, step onto the deck and enjoy the novelty of an outside shower with hot and cold water. You won’t be overlooked or disturbed.
OUTSIDE
The Hyde is approached via a private field with a hard-core drive and ample off-road parking. A short pathway into the wood leads off level ground to the treehouse, so there is no need to climb. The woods surrounding the property, with daffodils and bluebells in Springtime, and hammocks suspended in the trees are for the sole use of our guests. Rugs and cushions are provided for more chilly days. A pathway leads down to a totally private garden with loungers and cushions where you can sunbathe, enjoy a picnic or a glass of wine and a barbecue on a summer's evening.
WORK FROM HOME
In these days when working from home has become the norm, The Hyde is the perfect place to combine work and play. Not only do we have excellent Wi-Fi connection with superfast download and upload speeds and capacity, but we can give long-stay guests the use of a garden office/library with a large desk and a comfy office chair where you won’t be interrupted whilst you are making essential Zoom calls.
